On April 25 local time, with China TIESIJU Civil Engineering Group, a subsidiary of CREC, completing the erection of the final T-beam on the Potofita No. 2 Bridge, the transportation and erection of T-beams for 21 railway bridges on the newly constructed Morebaya Port of Rivea to West Simandou mining area railway section from Urkaba to Mamu in Guinea was completed.
The?Morebaya-Simandou Railway is the first east-west railway traversing Guinea, with a total length of approximately 569 kilometers. Under the MXTJ-08 contract section undertaken by China TIESIJU Civil Engineering Group, the project includes the prefabrication and transportation/erection of T-beams for 1,425 double-track spans, 814.5 kilometers of mainline track laying, 64 kilometers of station track laying, and the placement of 3.3 million cubic meters of ballast. In March 2024, China TIESIJU Civil Engineering Group began mobilizing four dual-purpose bridge girder erection machines and 28 girder transport vehicles from China to Guinea for the Marsay Railway project. As of April 25 this year, 95% (1,345 double-track spans) of the T-beam erection task within the contract section had been completed.
The Morebaya-Simandou Railway?is a key infrastructure project under the “Belt and Road”?Initiative, designed to optimize Guinea’s economic structure. It serves as an essential support project for large-scale mining at the world-class Simandou iron ore deposit and integrated rail-port transportation. It is also the longest modern railway constructed in Guinea to date. Once completed, it will significantly improve local transportation, enhance residents’?living and production conditions, and inject strong momentum into Guinea’s economic and social development.
